Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

At what age should my child first see a dentist?

We usually recommend the first visit by age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth. Early visits help catch small issues before they turn into bigger ones.

How often should my child come in?

Most kids should come every 6 months. Some kids with higher cavity risk may need more frequent visits.

What happens at the first visit?

It’s simple and low stress. We check the teeth, gums, and bite. We may take X-rays if needed, and we will go over brushing, diet, and habits with you.

Are X-rays safe for kids?

Yes. We use state-of-the-art, very low radiation digital X-rays and only take them when needed.

What if my child is scared?

That is totally normal! We go slow, explain everything, and keep things positive. If needed, we also offer options like nitrous (laughing gas) to help kids relax.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept most major dental insurances and Virginia Medicaid. If you’re not sure, just call or text us, and we’ll check for you.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We offer flexible options and financing. We also have an in-house membership plan for families without insurance.

What is your membership plan?

It’s a yearly plan that covers exams, cleanings, and discounts on treatment. It’s a simple option if you don’t have insurance.

What if my child has a toothache or an emergency?

Call us right away. We try to see emergencies the same day whenever possible.

Are baby teeth really that important?

Yes. They hold space for adult teeth and help with speech and eating. Cavities in baby teeth can still cause pain and infection.

What should I do if my child knocks out a tooth?

If it’s a baby tooth, don’t try to put it back in. If it’s a permanent tooth, gently rinse it and try to place it back in the socket. If that’s not possible, keep it in milk and come in immediately.

Do you do crowns on kids’ teeth?

Yes. For larger cavities, we often use stainless steel crowns. They’re strong and last until the tooth falls out naturally.

How can I prevent cavities?

Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, Floss daily, limit sugary snacks and drinks, and keep up with regular checkups

When should my child stop using a pacifier or thumb sucking?

Ideally by age 3. If it continues longer, it can affect how the teeth and jaw develop.

Do you offer sedation or general anesthesia?

Yes, for kids who need more extensive treatment or have a hard time in the chair. We’ll go over all options with you so you feel comfortable.
